What is a CNC Machine?

Updated: Feb 3, 2022

Let us define what a CNC machine is because CNC machine is basic lingo to us in the machine industry but at times, we as CNC repair technicians can get rather comfortable with verbiage that we forget what is common sense to us is not to others.

So what is a CNC machine you ask?

The letters “CNC” stand for Computer Numeric Control. A machine is “an apparatus using or applying mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.

Put those two definitions together and we have a computer-driven machine tool that produces solid materials in different shapes. CNC machines are used in every single type of industry all over the world! For more of the history of CNC machines click here.

Since they are responsible for almost everything we use or have, it is really important to keep the CNC machines up and running all the time. When one malfunctions, productivity decreases and profits follow after. It is really important to know that our CNC repair technicians are extensively trained and highly experienced to service CNC industrial machines through repair and maintenance not solely the computer numeric control.
