Should I repair or replace my CNC router?

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

Any general machine that we all own gives out eventually and a common question always asked of us at Mega-tronics is whether the CNC router needs to be replaced or repaired. Let’s ask ourselves a few questions first.

How long have you had your CNC router?

With proper use and diligent maintenance of a CNC router machine, routers can last anywhere between 10-15 years for smaller router models to decades for the industrial-grade routers.

How have you kept up with maintenance on your CNC router?

There are at least 3 key steps you can take to keep up with maintenance on your CNC router.

  1. Regular cleaning. This helps avoid chip and dust build up.

  2. Regular greasing. This keeps the machine lubricated.

  3. Replace your vacuum filters. This helps keeps the motors operating smoothly.

Has the cut gone dull on your CNC router?

These CNC routers are very durable and last quite awhile. Look to compare your quality cuts, if possible, from the beginning to now. Is there a difference?

Though we would love to provide you with straight answers of whether your CNC router needs repairing or replacing there are a lot of factors that come into play to properly diagnose your CNC router machine. In order to do so, after asking yourself these questions, we highly recommend giving our CNC router repair technicians a call to schedule us to go out and inspect your machine. Our team of CNC router repair technicians are available 7 day a week (24/7).
